Mic Check: A Hip-Hop & Mâché Experience at Cafe Cino

An intimate creative experience blending hip-hop culture, film, and hands-on art.

Join Machétive at Cafe Cino DC for a guided workshop where guests will design and create their own paper mâché microphone sculpture, inspired by the legacy and visual language of hip-hop. We’ll begin with a short hip-hop–focused film screening to set the tone, then transition into a step-by-step sculpting and design session. This experience is relaxed, art-forward, and intentionally limited to keep the atmosphere personal and immersive. No prior art experience is necessary. Unlimited $10 drip coffee will be available for purchase.

2:00PM - 2:30PM Arrival + Coffee + Settle In: Guests arrive, check in, grab unlimited drip coffee, find their seats, and settle into the space. Music will be playing to set the tone and create a relaxed atmosphere.

2:30 PM - 3:00PM Welcome + Film Screening: Brief welcome and introduction to the experience, followed by a short hip-hop-inspired film to ground the creative direction for the workshop.

3:00PM - 3:45PM Design + Customization: Painting, detailing, texture work, and creative expression. Guests personalize their microphones with color, design elements, and hip-hop-inspired aesthetics.

3:45PM - 4:15PM Final Touches + Light Dry Time: Wrap-up details, setting pieces, and brief drying period. Casual mingling and coffee refills.

4:15PM - 4:30 PM Closing + Photo Moment: Group acknowledgment, optional photos, and event close-out.
