Hilo Twist Ti Leaf Lei Making and Mochi + Musubi (DC)

Join Gina of Eco Mindful Lei for a hands-on Hilo Twist Ti Leaf Lei class, where you'll learn the beautiful, traditional art of twisting ti leaf into a timeless lei. In this workshop, you’ll be guided step-by-step through the hilo (twisting) technique.

You'll work with Oahu grown & gathered ti leaf, honoring its deep cultural significance in Hawaiʻi — a plant known for protection, blessing, and intention. As we weave and twist together, you’ll connect with the rhythm of the process, grounding into the ʻike and tradition behind this beloved lei style.

Lei Musubi will be on site with a musubi pop up from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM that day! Your ticket includes a musubi and a butter mochi, but additional musubi will be available for purchase.

Note: Butter mochi is a hybrid between cake and mochi. It has a cake-like consistency while still being perfectly chewy. It’s made with sweet rice flour and we source ours from a rice farm in California. Subtly sweet, rich in flavor, and one our favorite sweet treats.
